well done lads

I know its a bit late but just had to say well done to the lads for the great win over Fulham in the last league game before the international break. a playas gotta handle his business so been tied up with paper chasing till now but they did good. as usual they made us sweat and bite our nails for it by allowing Fulham to get one back and come at us but by all accounts in the pub from those who went it was a good performance. Really nice goal from Shay too - did you see the trickery from Ossie to cross it too? that defender just fell over his legs go so tangled up ha ha! i have to admit a soft spot for Ossie anyway but he is on fire at the min - whatever they're putting in his tea at Finch Farm is obviously working :-)

just a shame King Louis got himself nailed again and for the rest of the season by the looks of it. its a shame but i think his time is pretty much up now with his age and injuries so time to get in that transfer market over the summer Moysey for a quality replacement. still loving Becks though so he will do us fine for this season now and many to come. that boy is so quick , hes like a gazelle on steriods :-)

who loves ya moysey?

looks like the season may have taken an upturn once more with us sitting in the top half of the table within striking distance of europe so the discussion on the street turns to our beloved manager. from what i hear from fellow evertonians this guy so defines the term 'marmite' he must have it running through his veins. thats right , when it comes to ur davey you either love him or hate him.

so which camp do i  sit in then  hear you ask? i'm firmly in the love camp (as strange as that term sounds ha ha!) although it has been tested this season on a number of occasions. but i have been thinking over the last few days - have we overaccted this season as to whats happened? after all we're in 9th place with a lot to play for still and europe still a distinct possibility so come the end of the season we may have had a good one and wonder what we've all been moaning about!

football eh? its a funny old game :-)

Hot Rod to drive into the sunset?

Breaking news on the street is that Man U are going to be putting a bid in over the summer for Jack Rodwell. We have all heard the rumours before as Old Red Nose obviously likes the look of him to revitalise his ageing midfield but seems he will actually be going for it this time. It could all be the usual rubbish of course but I get the feeling this has more than a hint of truth to it and has been on the cards a long time. Some sources even claim the deal is done and will just be announced in the summer when the window re-opens?

To be honest me and my mates agree it's not the end of the world if the boy goes as long as get good money for him (i.e at least £25 million and upfront cash , none of this drip payment bollocks) and Moyes is given the money to spend on new players. If this happens it will benefit the team and club overall and allow us to push on next season a la the Rooney money. Rodwell is nowhere near as good as Shrek was then and to me looks like he'll end up a good player but certainly not as special as all the hype would have you believe at the min. Otherwise he would be running the show for us now he's played more this season and he ain't really has he?

Although maybe Jack should take a warning from everyones favourite granny nobbler and how his move to supposedly bigger and better pastures worked out. yeah he scores more goals now and has a few more medals but has he developed into the Messi like talent he had started to show at Everton? The answer is no - he never goes past ppl anymore or takes ppl on like he used to with us. His development as a player has actually gone backwards as he is simply not as exciting or unpredictable as he was when he bestrode Goodison Park

Everton 1 - Birmingham 1

Typical Everton eh? After the jubilation of the Newcastle victory they have us crashing back to earth again with this result. Don't get me wrong at least we didn't get beat but was expecting to win this one with Brum doing so poor this season! It sums our rollercoaster season up really that one minute we look like we're gonna go on a run and then slip up the next game.

To top it all off Mikel goes down with a hammy and looks like he'll be on the treatment table with the rest of them for the remainder of the season! Nice goal from Johnny though - no chance of the keeper stopping that and Ossie played well again which we'll need with most of our midfield crocked. Really poor goal to concede though - marking anyone?!

Oh well onwards & upwards to the next game!

Newcastle 1 - Everton 2

Well what a difference a few days can make! Apologies for not posting about this fantastic win till now but have been struck down ill for the last few days. Too much excitement with a brilliant performance from the boys obviously!

I'll be honest, Newcastle away is never an easy place to get a result and after the Reading fiasco I wasn't overly optimistic about it. But as always like a true bluenose I secretly fancied us to do something anyway and it turns out we did - and how!

The teamsheet before the game looked promising and was very pleased to see Neville restored to midfield and Hibbo to right back. I don't want to claim any credit ha ha but maybe Moyesy saw my last post on here?! The rest of the line up looked good too - was nice to see Mikel going out to the left to make way for Phil as I personally think he is better out there. He always seems to have more time and space to hurt the opposition on the flanks and hardly ever loses possession there.

Looks like Moyes got the team and tactics spot on this game as we were easily better than them and fully deserved the win. The first half didn't start too well having said that with Phil picking up a knock to the ribs - proof of a hard fought game as usual against the barcodes. Thankfully he was ok to carry on and we started brightly enough. Then, as if on cue, the defensive frailties that have plagued our season appeared to undo the good start. That cretin Nolan (he has got to be one of the dirtiest , annoying players currently playing!) got a shot in and it rebounded to their forward Best who nodded it in from close range. Bugger!

From then on they got into the game more and it looked like we could be in for a long afternoon. Was quite funny when Hibbo went through their fancy dan Guirerrez like a dose of salts. Take that my old son ha ha. We broke out quick after an attack from them broke down and Ossie fed it to Mikel who did really well to get it back into him. The finish from Ossie was even better - he went for placement and put it away superbly. Was pleased for Ossie as he gets a lot of stick but has been playing well the last few games.

We'd only just calmed down from that when we went and grabbed another one. We got a free kick which Baines whipped in superbly right in the corridor of uncertainty(copyright A Hansen BBC) and Jags steamed in round the back and put it home. Has Jags even ever scored before?! Good time for his first one anyway if not.

That was pretty much it for the first half although Phil had picked up a knock which meant Johnny Boy H was out for him in the second. Luckily it didn't affect the performance too much and we weathered the storm to hold out for the win. In fact we should really have won by more with King Louis and Beckford missing a good couple of chances each to seal it. In fact Beckford got the hook towards the end - his link up play had been a bit poor so maybe thats why Big Vic came on for him? Or maybe Moyesy just thought it would be funny to see Nolans reaction to him coming on with the court case thing between Vic and him. They did have a little set too but nothing too bad - certainly not like the last time when Nolan had absolutely caned Vic the twat.

All in all a really good performance and win for the boys and credit to Moyes too for the tactics and subs which worked well. Keep this up and we'll be in with a shout of europe next season wahey!

Gutted Part II

Ok so I have calmed down a bit after getting our trousers pulled down and bums spanked by Reading and thought it was time to reflect on whats wrong in the team at the moment. Although the poll on this blog asks the question of whether a mass clear out is needed I don't believe it is. The answer if you ask moi is to get all Marty McFly and go Back to the Future. And no I don't mean for Blue Bill Kenwright to grab Moyes' head and rap on it while saying 'Hello is there anyone home McMoyes'

In my opinion our problem lies in the fact that we have no protection in front of the back four anymore which results in teams breaking on us far too quick and strolling through our midfield like a hot knife through butter. Fine players though Felli, Teta and Jack are none of them can play the defensive midfield role well that I believe we need. So what to do? Well I may get slaughtered for this but if you ask me Moyes should being Neville back into that role which he has performed so well in times gone by and re-instate Hibbo at right back.

When we used to have these two in those positions we were so much tougher to play and score against and were much more solid. Yes I know all you purists out there who think we should be playing like golden era Brazil will disagree as individually Nev and Hibbo aren't the most creative or skillful. But you have to look past this and see what they bring to the team. And what they bring is clean sheets, wins and points.

Now I may be wrong but if you look at the league table that is what we need right now cos we are right in the brown stuff potentially still. And if it means we go back to scraping out one nil wins and sacrificing some of the fancy dan tippy tapping passing we are failing with now so be it

Gutted

Well what can be said about last night's debacle at Goodison? I am actually still too upset to post a proper analysis of the game and go fully into what went wrong.

Suffice to say that I think all us fans know everyone from the Chairman down to the players has to take their share of the blame for a disgraceful performance. What hurts most is that most of the players out there last night (with a couple of notable exceptions in Baines and Howard) looked like they couldn't be arsed. What happened to playing for the shirt, the club, the fans? How come we can turn up week in week out and show proper passion for our team and they look like they're rather be out shopping spending their latest bucketload of cash we funnel into their pockets.

I know one thing for sure , it's time for Moysey to start earning his corn and whip the lads into shape and rescue our stop - start season. Come on Davey boy, sort it out!
